I just got half life off of steam, and i especally wanted this mod, and i foud no one playing it, do i have 2 download an update, or is the mod not popular?!?!!?

No, the game is not that popular, at least not among people with servers.  :(
When I had my comp, there would only be a single server that was up occationally, and there would be an announcement at the rs2 irc channel when it went up.

its not that the game is not popular, it is more because there were not enough dedicated servers when we needed them most.  RS1 has had and still does have a fair few people following it, only problem being that people are not hosting servers  :cry:

I know i would play it if there was a server up, but thats the thing theres no servers any more and no one is prepared to host them either becuase they dont have a big enough conbnection, which is sadly most of the cases. The other big one is things like routers getting in the way.

Time zones have been a problem for a while, as there was quite a bit of an american following for a while, but with the loss of the EF server and the few people who were running american servers part time leaving, everyone in america was garenteed a lag.

Same with Australia but worse.

I think its safe to say that without a server soon RS1 will be dead.

Although i would argue that it is in fact dead already as the only games i have seen have been that of the alpha testers working on current game bugs.

Project Behemoth gets more loving fromt he community than RS1 does, i would liek to see that change as i belive that RS1 could still have a place in the world as the version of RS with all the races. I hope it can piggy back on the development and exposure of RS2 and that maybe one day people will choose which to play.

RS1 is still a viable game with some unique elements, i know of no other mod with a close combat system like Rival Species. It just needs somethign, i dont know quite what.

it should be noted that there is now a RS server up adn running part time in amerca.

That's right, you might have to turn on that preference in your profile first.

you could also try looking at the RS1 forum and the gabby link that allows you to chat in real time with iother users while browsing the forum.

well, ive been promising for a while, that ill be hosting on my dedicated server, once the time is right. that would be, when a new version is out to advertise and get the attention of players. currently we are making progress on that new version! maybe soon ill be able to implement the use of the new forum in the webpage and thereby help us in getting news about the progress out to you ppl.
