Exterminatus mod for the Source game engine, news update for July 2010.  Happily discovered a workaround for the issue that had stopped work on EX maps for several weeks.

We plan to release a new public Beta (5.05) at the end if next week (6th of August) including the following  changes since beta 5.04:
  • The Zoanthrope (3rd tier tyranid class) has received an overhaul of his attack, the old primary (warp blast) attack is now secondary to a fairly rapid fire psychic projectile attack.  This should make the 'thrope a more effective all round class and a more worthy foil for the marines 3rd tier class ( the Heavy ).
  • Testing "rapid-fire" bolters.  A configuration option has been added allowing server operators to change how fast marine bolters fire.  Rapid fire bolters have been requested several times and i'm intrigued to see what setting fares the best.
  • Various overdue improvements to the existing EX maps. 

I would have released the new beta earlier, but Travel, Illness and scheduled Server Maintenance have all gotten in the way.

Progress on the new Terminator and Genestealer classes continues, but nothing new to show just yet.

Ever since the Steam updates that opened Steam and the Source engine to the Mac platform the Source SDK we use for mapping has not been working.  This held up all progress on the development of new and existing EX maps, which was very frustrating.  Luckily I found a workaround for that problem just this month (details on the EX forum (http://www.40ksource.com/common/smf/index.php?topic=1349.0)).  Once more we've finally got some more mapping progress, fixes and new maps working their way through to Beta testing.  We're always looking for more maps and mappers.  If you're interested in mapping for EX please let us know.
