Title: Red VS Blue
Post by: ChromeAngel on March 08, 2011, 09:19:07 PM
I initially wanted the genstealers in EX to have the classic coloring from their original appearance in SpaceHulk, a blue carapace with piny purple flesh.  So that's how it was textured for the original renders (as you can see on the media page).

Once we got this model into the mod though, he really stuck out like a sore thumb.  We've built such a strong branding with the Tyranid colour scheme in EX the blue stealer looks really odd.  So I knocked up this Red version of the stealer to better fit in.

I would like to hear get your opinions of which is the better colour scheme for the stealer.

the nids coloring is depens on their mothership and hivemind
so one hive got its own color
yes , im saying that red is quet fits the place
but you could combine those as well , because those creatures were people

Black and Red please... however with some tweaks...

Transfer the flesh red over to the carapace, and a lighter red for the flesh. Give that a shot.

I agree with farseer, black and red but more in line with the warriors colour tones.

I have to agree with keeping the colouring the same or it won't look quite as good. However I was thinking instead of having a brown or red carapace someone mentioned that above. How about maroon? That's the best of both.

I think so... but the flesh should be a red/pinkish hybrid... it just stands out too much...

Im still thinking that it needs the light red of the warrior on the carapace and the dark red/brown of the skin aka said warrior.

this is a hive strain 'stealer were talking about here, not a purestrain from a cult.

My first attempt at the red version had brown/black skin and red carapce like the rest of the nids, but it just did not look right.  I decide to swap the flesh and carapace colours to see how it looked, that version was better so I posted it in the poll.

A concern I have would be seeing these little guys in a dirt/grass/dark field. Due to colour blindness that part of the spectrum blurs together making it more than difficult to tell features (ie. a bug running forward).

Knowing it would be rediculous for the thing to be very bright and easily picked out at a distance, and that having 2 default blue teams would be kind of weird. I just wanted to put this fact out for consideration.
