Title: Nearly a Beta - 7.50 Release Candidate 2
Post by: ChromeAngel on March 23, 2013, 03:21:42 PM
This week we're having practice run at the release of the next Exterminatus Beta. Two flavours of the EX install both need to be tested, the ZIP and the EXE.  These are what's called "release candidates" and are the last chance to get the installation working before the mod gets released mirrored and pimped all over the internets.

Updated Saturday March the 30th

These are both intended as full installations, to replace the current beta 7.25.  If you install this version you will not be able to play beta 7.25.  Both installers were updated to RC2 on march 30th.

Installation instructions
  • Uninstall any previous EX beta by deleting your sourcemods/ex folder
  • Run the installer and follow the instructions it gives you
  • Restart Steam.
You should now see both the Exterminatus Beta 7.5 listed in your library.

If you have problems installing or running this version please report it on the Steam Community Game Group discussion board.

Tweaks
  • Replaced the powersword effect particle system with a glowing blade texture as the particle were not compatible with the inferno pistol's melta beam.
  • Version 5 of city conflict is the new the standard city conflict,
  • The final barrier objective on ex_hive was buffed to have as much strength as the casket in ex_valley.
  • Reverted some of i'm a Turtle's new sounds that were not working (Boltgun clipping, some of the Carnifex growls).
  • Tweaked the preaching of Missiles and plasmabolts.
  • Tweaked the tyranid player models (trying to fix an engine crash when connection to running, populated servers).

EDIT: Updated Saturday March the 30th
Release candidate 1 has some minor problems that I wanted to address before the Beta, but RC2 wasn't ready for a mid-week test.

Spore mines seem to be doing a bit too much damage.  I don't like tweaking it this late, but it must be done.

The veteran power weapon effects need patching.

Tweaks
  • Buffed the health of Hive's final objective.
  • Nerfed the damage of Spore mines from 45 to 40,
  • Applied the powersword effects patch to the RC.

Beta Release Next Week
I want to run a quick test of these features before releasing a new Beta.  Awkwardly my internet connection will be disrupted in this coming week due to my line being upgraded.  This means I don't expect to be able to host my dedicated server during that week.   I doesn't feel right launching a new beta with CozWorld as the only server operator, so i'm looking to delay he Beta release until Saturday the 6th, even if RC2 is a glorious success.

Chrome, the glow effect for the Inferno Combo still doesn't work and the Plasma Combo's goes all the way to the gun for some reason.

After Actor Report 7.50 RC1
That was pretty fun and I managed to record some good footage (I think). Some changes need to be made before this can be a called Beta though.

The final objective on Hive is still breaking like wet toilet paper, so I'll have to ramp it's health up some more.

Spore mines seem to be doing a bit too much damage.  I don't like tweaking it this late, but it must be done.

The veteran power weapon effects need patching.

It does not sound like much, but I have a lot of other things that need doing this week.  There *may* be a mid-week RC2 patch or it might have to wait until next weekend,

Out of all the number combos I tinkered with the sword script file, I think  "[0.2 0.2 3.0]" looks the best without being a light saber.
