Title: The Story of a Hero - Chapter 8
Post by: Brother-Captain Severus, Deserted Legion 3rd Company Master on November 14, 2006, 03:23:30 PM
Continued from where I left off. Enjoy :D

Lucius's face was clearly a bit angry. He was standing in the exact spot from where Severus had left him. After a few seconds of thinking, he walked towards the set of steps Severus went up and climbed it.
A metal door opened. Lucius walked through on to a concrete bridge. On the other side of the bridge was Severus, facing away from the Inquisitor. "What is it, my lord?" he asked.
Lucius walked towards Severus. "So you want to know what it is?" he asked back.
"In fact, I do."
"Okay, I'll tell you what it is. YOU DISOBEYED A DIRECT ORDER!"
Severus turned around. He looked Lucius in the eye without blinking.
"I told you to get me Captain Lysander and what do you do?-"
"-I do what should must be done and I do it correctly." Severus finished Lucius's sentence before he even said it. "Just the sons of Rogal Dorn will not be enough; We need everyone. And with everyone, we will annihilate them."
Lucius didn't speak. He just blinked.
"Those chaos will learn a lesson they'll remember, and we're the ones going to be teaching the lesson. No-one stands in the way of, or even poses a threat to the Emperor and his people. For that's the rule of a Space marine, is it not?"
Lucius paused for a few seconds before speaking. "I guess you have me there."
"You don't guess."
Lucius raised both his eyebrows.
"You know."
"Quite a way to put my words correct. So what do we do exactly with our chapter?"
"We ask of Master Tereus to take us to battle and we abort Kill Team Omega. We command them to evacuate immediately. In the mean time..."
Lucius lowered his head and raised both eyebrows.
"Bring me my Terminator Armour."

A comb of claws. A fist of steel. A banner of justice. Severus twisted around in his Terminator armour and approached a metal door, stomping in his huge armour.
Lucius looked over to an approaching Thunderhawk. It landed in the middle of the road in front of Severus. The front hatch opened, beckoning him in. Severus stepped in to the thunderhawk with his company champion, company standard bearer, company apothecary and a techmarine.
Lucius stepped forward with Tereus, master of the Iron Blades chapter. Tereus was in his artificer armour and had a power fist on his left arm. His skin was ageing immensely and he had battle scars and purity seals all over his armour, some of them cut down. He stepped in to the thunderhawk with Lucius by his side.
"You know that a single one of these can enter an atmosphere at a very high velocity, right?" Lucius asked Tereus.
Tereus nodded. He wasn't the type for speaking.
"Good, because we're going very, very fast."
The thunderhawk front hatch closed. Everyone was in. It slowly rose from the ground and took off.

At Kronos IX, Magus peered around a corner. He came across a big square with different guns spread across it. The first gun that caught his eye was a sonic blaster. It seemed that the Corsairs of Steel had a soul for Slaanesh, too.
Magus ran over to the sonic blaster and loaded it. Then he ran towards a pillar and examined it. This was where he said he would meet Cassius.
"Magus?" a voice shouted. "Break the pillar, you'll get in faster that way."
The voice was unmistakeable. Magus pulled the trigger of the Sonic Blaster and watched the gun charge up. When he released the trigger, there was a huge, deafening, ringing sound in his ears.
A wave of sound shook through the air and, as it hit the pillar, instantly put a hole straight through it. The pillar collapsed in half and the base crumbled. Finally, the pillar shattered into tiny pieces of concrete.
Magus jumped down the pillar, which was now, a hole. He dropped the Sonic Blaster at the site of Cassius holding an autocannon in one hand.
"The control centre's this way," Cassius spoke. "Can't be too far."
"Right," Magus replied. "I'll take the sonic blaster with me while you get that thing ready to blow things open."
Cassius nodded and ran down a path of dead Tau and Chaos marines. Magus was walking behind Cassius and pointing the sonic blaster as if he was covering the back. The sight of blood spattered across the walls made Magus wonder how Cassius killed all these people.
"I'll explain to you about the blood later," Cassius sais, as if he was reading Magus's mind.
"Wow, how the hell did you know what I was thinking?" magus asked, confused.
"I just knew. Come on, it's just over here."
Magus turned towards a door. It had Tau writing on it. "Over here."
"What is it?" Cassius walked over to the door Magus was walking about.
"Tau writing. can you translate it?"
Cassius took a few moments to translate the writing. He put the autocannon down and picked up a burst cannon from the floor. "It says sector one armoury," he spoke. "We can replace our armour here. I'm okay myself, so I'll take a rain check on the armoury. You?"
"Damn Lictor scratched my armour. I'll be fine though."
"Right." Cassius kept on walking.
Magus was still following behind. "I do wonder when they're getting here."
"Soon. The thunderhawk must've left pretty early at our call."
Magus smiled at the fact that reinforcements were coming. His eyes came on to another door, which was almost shut and had a Chaos marine arm in it. "Cassius?"
Cassius turned around immediately. He spotted the arm in the door. "That's a bit nasty," he commented.
"What does it say?" Magus pointed out more Tau writing.
"Sector One control room. Control room!-"
Magus charged the sonic blaster and released the trigger. The door thrusted itself upwards.
Cassius covered his ears with his hands as the ringing sound pierced through his armour.
Magus dropped the sonic blaster and walked in. A chaos marine with a sword through his face was lying there in the doorway. "Did you do that one?" Magus asked Cassius.
"I remember shooting him."
Magus examined the sword in greater detail. It was an Imperial weapon, probably another Space marine's power sword.
Cassius stepped over the chaos marine and in to the control room. He looked around for signs of life. His eyes met a red, glowing eye which was coming closer to him.
The room was completely dark. With this kind of light, Cassius wouldn't see everything. But a light switched on and the red eye became even more clear now.
"Hello," Cassius said. He was talking to a ripper.
Magus stamped on the ripper. Blood spattered out of the creature as it was squished by a huge, silver metal foot. "Goodbye," he said.
Cassius smiled at Magus's sense of humour. He then walked over to a control panel and started typing. "If I can patch a route to the control centre at the tower, we can find where Mordeus is."
"No need," a voice said.
It wasn't Magus. The voice was too deep. In fact, Magus was confused himself.
A figure was standing there in chaos power armour. His armour was dark grey and battle-worn. The trims on his armour were a gleaming silver. And in the figure's arms was a thunder hammer and plasma pistol.
"You already found him."

Comments? Criticism welcomed. And yes, the man who just entered the room is Mordeus.

wasnt mordeus the evil inquisitor, u sure he can jsut wear the marines armor like that, very heavy id imagine, good writing tho, allthough, id imagine ur marines to talk a bit more sternly and strict: my main point would be Magus who seems to remind me of a well... non-hero if u see what im getting at?

Yeah, he's not supposed to be the hero right now...

At the end of the series, I've decided to show you what Captain Severus looks like, both before Orion IV and after Kronos IX.
