40K Source

The Beta 8.20 release candidate is a dry run test for the next Beta version.  The release candidate is only being deployed as a full install, like the Beta.  8.20 features new builds of ex_forge and ex_hive, updated sounds for the warrior's attacks, new weapon collect sounds for both teams and a nerf to the Zoanthrope's healing power.


The FTP is on the blink again, so i'm relying on ModDB to authorise and distribute this version.

Install the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer

• Navigate to the "Tools" section on your Steam games "Library"
• Install the "Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer"
• Run the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer at least once.
• You can exit once the menu has finished loading.

Install the latest Exterminatus Alpha

• If you already have a copy of the EX alpha, delete it.
• Run the alpha installer and follow it's instructions.
• Restart Steam.  You should now see both the Exterminatus Beta 8 and Exterminatus Alpha listed in your library.

Features

• New weapon pick up sounds for each team, by DontAsk.
• New ambient sounds for ex_forge and ex_orbital, by DontAsk.

Balance

• Nerfed Zoanthrope healing, rather then a flat 35 HP to give 8% of the targets maximum health.
• Buffed plasma projectile speed from 3500 to 4000.

Bug Fix

• Fixed warrior talons clanging when hitting the world.
• Fixed the venom cannon hint referring to pumping the reload key (a mechanic that was dropped a loooong time ago).

Tweak

• Added missions to ex_hive and ex_forge.
• Added infestation to the tyranid start on ex_forge.
• Tweaked some details on ex_hive.

I am planning on recoding demos of the test games on the RC for promotional purposes, so please be on your best behaviour ;)
