40K Source

The changes in Alpha 8.41 are mostly corrections of issues that arose due to migration the code to a newer version, including a case that actually crashes the game server.


The ModDB mirrors unlock at 12:00 GMT, if it's busy or not working the installer can be downloaded from 40ksource.com (http://www.40ksource.com/files/Exterminatus_Alpha_8.41.exe).  Please try the ModDB first.

Install the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer

• Navigate to the "Tools" section on your Steam games "Library"
• Install the "Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer"
• Run the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer at least once.
• You can exit once the menu has finished loading.

Install the latest Exterminatus Alpha

• If you already have a copy of the EX alpha, delete it.
• Run the alpha installer and follow it's instructions.
• Restart Steam.  You should now see both the Exterminatus Beta 8.38 and Exterminatus Alpha listed in your library.

Bug fixes

• Server crash (related to spawn protection).
• The message "Player %s1 joined team %s2" was missing the name of the player (%s1)..
• Notification of deaths were misaligned and cut up.
• Red tint when injured is back (it was deliberately removed in earlier EX versions
• Flamer spots (where the world was lit) making burning sounds even after the fire has gone out.
• bolter impacts don't sound like they come from the point of impact.
• Dreadnaught battle cry was absent.

Known issue

• Tarsis Ultra is missing an overview map for the loading screen.
• Lictor cloak is 100% effective when fully cloaked, pretty sure it remained at about 3% visible previously.
• Odd shader issues I was unable to reproduce.
