40K Source

Alpha 8.48 introduces the last of the planned new features for the next Beta, dual devourers wargear for the Carnfiex as an alternative to the screamer killer.  From here on we move into a period of intense balance testing and polishing work.


The ModDB mirrors unlock at 13:00 GMT, if it's busy or not working the installer can be downloaded from 40ksource.com (http://www.40ksource.com/files/Exterminatus_Alpha_8.48.exe).  Please try the ModDB first.

Install the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer

• Navigate to the "Tools" section on your Steam games "Library"
• Install the "Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer"
• Run the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer at least once.
• You can exit once the menu has finished loading.

Install the latest Exterminatus Alpha

• If you already have a copy of the EX alpha, delete it.
• Run the alpha installer and follow it's instructions.
• Restart Steam.  You should now see both the Exterminatus Beta 8.38 and Exterminatus Alpha listed in your library.

Features

• New akimbo devourers wargear for the Carnifex called the "Devourer Host".
• New version of ex_fortress and supporting assets by DontAsk4470.
• New stain glass window texture, based on Saint Sisters (http://fav.me/daac5vs) by Khantain (http://khantian.deviantart.com/) (with permission)
• New skybox for ex_orbital by DontAsk4470.

Balance

• Buffed the rate at which devourers regenerate ammo from 1 second to 0.75 seconds (new console variable ex_warrior_dv_regen).
• Nerfed meltagun rate of fire from 0.18 to 0.2 seconds.
• Nerfed meltagun max range from 800 to 700.

Tweaks

• More progress on the single player tutorial map ex_tutoiral_2016.

The new version of fortress is known to be broken (it does not end properly), hopefully DontAak will have a patch for that soon.

Next week i'll be dividing my attention between fixing any problems with the Devourer Host, balancing classes and polishing more of the maps.
