40K Source

8.50b features a new version ex_fortress, fixes for exploits on several maps and corrections of audio bugs that slipped in to the previous alpha.  

This week I re-installed Steam and it's tools on my dedicated server to try and fix the problem with the server browser no listing it.  Unfortunately this did not do the trick as player are still unable to see the server.  Because of this i'm going to have to take some more drastic action and attempt to replace the in-game server browser.


The ModDB mirrors unlock at 12:00 GMT, if it's busy or not working the installer can be downloaded from 40ksource.com (http://www.40ksource.com/files/Exterminatus_Alpha_8.50b.exe).  Please try the ModDB first.

Install the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer

• Navigate to the "Tools" section on your Steam games "Library"
• Install the "Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer"
• Run the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer at least once.
• You can exit once the menu has finished loading.

Install the latest Exterminatus Alpha

• If you already have a copy of EX alpha 8.49, delete it.
• Run the alpha installer and follow it's instructions.
• Restart Steam.  You should now see both the Exterminatus Alpha 8.50 and Exterminatus Alpha 8.50b listed in your library.

Patching 8.50 to the latest Exterminatus Alpha

• copy your steamapps/sourcemods/ex folder to steamapps/sourcemods/ex_alpha
• extract the patch file to your steamapps/sourcemods folder aand merge the folders inside, overwriting with files from the patch.
• Restart Steam.  You should now see both the Exterminatus Alpha 8.50 and Exterminatus Alpha 8.50b listed in your library.

Featues

• DontAsk4470 has provided a new version of ex_fortress, with better access to the final objective for large tyranids.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed missing Tyranid hoof sounds in version 8.50.
• Fixed missing Genestealer sounds in version 8.50.

Exploit Fixes

• ex_valley, ex_ichar_iv, ex_tarsis_ultra and ex_city conflict have had potential exploits using the leap mechanic patched.  Thanks to Desgusting Deviant (http://steamcommunity.com/id/DeliciousDeuterium) for reporting them.

If you find any exploits in EX, please report them via email to Leader@40ksource.com , so they can be patched and we can all enjoy the mod as it was intended to be played.

Next week i'll be trying to write my own server browser for EX and working on the maps and menus.  Lokidoki has also volunteered to make russian translations for EX which should be interesting.
