Title: sidestep movement. a suggestion/idea. Post by: Darknar on March 11, 2007, 04:12:44 AM so we all know about the sidestep movement. you press the A button to go left or the D button to go right (s and F in my case)
however. have you ever felt that the speed of witch you side step is a llittle slow in RS 1 or any other game for that matter. im just suggesting that you could possibly implement a larger sidstep (a low jump that is more of a dodge more than anything else) like if you double tap A or D to perform a slighly faster sidestep. or roll or jump.(with a bit of a recovery time of course) this could allow players to be able to dodge a brutal charge from a carnefex instead of just standing there like a numpty. just and idea. might be worth testing to see if its worth putting in the full game or not bothering with at all. the only thing i was looking for was something different than the slow cumberson sidestepping we had in RS1. Post by: ChromeAngel on March 11, 2007, 10:34:56 AM The double press control has a down side of it's own in that it slows down the response to the basic key press. Something more like a Sprint+Strafe combo might be more workable, preventing constant crab scuttling at the same time.

I wonder how this would affect Close Combat? Title: sidestep movement. a suggestion/idea. Post by: Wolf on March 12, 2007, 05:45:24 PM it could lead to a player sidestepping then shooting his attacker at point black, which is very harsh when it comes to heavy bolters/melta's
Title: sidestep movement. a suggestion/idea. Post by: Darknar on March 12, 2007, 06:33:39 PM oh of course when you have sidesteped im shure you would not be able to shoot. untill you have recoverd from the manoverer. so there is still a chance that someone can just redirect his attack.
and you would have to be perfectly timed so your opponat is not so close to attack but not to far away to see what you are doing. Title: sidestep movement. a suggestion/idea. Post by: Storm-wolf on March 14, 2007, 09:36:22 AM I don't know whether fast sidesteps are a good idea or not (that's why you should have added a third choice for you poll, like " i don't know" ).
But what would be nice would be to have the marines having special abilities given by their armor, such as sprint, or higer jump, or whatever. I really enjoyed the sprint in HL², and i thought that it could be nice to see the marines having that kind of abilities too. Now when i think more deeply about the fast side steps, i don't know if it is gonna be that usefull. Like ChromeAngel said, maybe the sprint+straffe combo would be better. Still, I believe it's a good idea. The armour is called power(ed!) armour for a reason x]. It has internal Gyros, motors etc that enhance the muscular capabilities of the space marine wearing it. Basically the power armour is very heavy but powers itself in response to the marine's movements and so in effect it is very light to move in. |
