Title: Cant wait Post by: JEBUS on December 19, 2005, 04:16:30 AM Just can't wait for this mod, I love RS.
You guys should spread news of the mod around. PlanetHalfLife mostly and amped or moddb. Well I'll poke my head around here. Good Luck. EDIT:: Sorry I know this might be asked alot but will the first realease of RS2 be simple marine vs marine just to get things started or the entire game full of classes, weapons, and maps? Hopefully just mvm for know but I'll help get a name for the mod on various websites but please post the media update on Planet Half Life. THats how I found your mod was through the forums. Title: Cant wait Post by: ChromeAngel on December 19, 2005, 09:17:34 AM If we have the time and the content done for MvM before the polls close we might well take a stab at it before the main show ;)

I just wonder, how long will it take to make a chaos marine skin for Bob? Ultramarines almost never fight each others, you know... Title: Cant wait Post by: ChromeAngel on December 19, 2005, 11:05:31 PM Razielk is working on the chaos marine skin
Title: Cant wait Post by: Anonymous on December 19, 2005, 11:29:38 PM Man I hope this mod dosn't loose all of its players like RS did. Please post the next media update on some websites. As far as I know you guys are the only 40k Source mod and other one on PHL died. So this would be great to get all of 40k fans following the mod.
A good start would be submiting the mod here http://www.hl2mods.co.uk/ Alot of people go here to look for HL2 mods and they have just about everyone. But PHL would be great too. Title: Cant wait Post by: JEBUS on December 19, 2005, 11:31:31 PM Forgot to sign in...
Title: Cant wait Post by: ChromeAngel on December 20, 2005, 09:11:03 AM I just tried registering at hl2mods. What a waste of time. Their site is badly broken.
PHL has a long history of not publishing RS related news, but we keep trying... Title: Cant wait Post by: migb on December 20, 2005, 12:26:01 PM Just wanted to add, that anyone active on a W40K or other Games Workshop-games related site should post a link to this site.
So that 40K'ers who are not spending a lot of time looking for mods can find it too  Title: Cant wait Post by: JEBUS on December 20, 2005, 02:46:40 PM Quote from: "ChromeAngel" I just tried registering at hl2mods. Than try http://dx.ampednews.com/ Its not only HL2 mods so its a little more popular. Title: Cant wait Post by: Typheron on December 20, 2005, 03:49:48 PM as PR dude ive been hitting many 40k and hl2 mod sites posting about rs2 and other bits and pieces. I tipically get a frosty reception from most of the main forum goers.
meh... Title: Cant wait Post by: The Vastator on December 20, 2005, 05:39:46 PM the hard PR's life...
maybe you'll be more succesfull when the marines will start firing on the nyds :D Title: Cant wait Post by: JEBUS on December 21, 2005, 12:13:12 AM Sorry to sound like a pain telling you to post the mod on all these websites. But I just don't want RS2 to become like RS1 where no one plays it. RS has all these great features too.
But Planet Half Life has changed some and has gotten new news people. So keep giving it a try. Title: Cant wait Post by: Typheron on December 21, 2005, 12:56:16 AM Ill post on any website im given, the more the merryer. Make me a list, check ti twice, i wanna find out which sites are naughty and nice, RS2 is coming to town...
Title: Cant wait Post by: Ozymandias on December 21, 2005, 05:28:11 AM You guys should flesh things out more before you go on a PR rampage. Wait until you've decided on a setting and all the associated game mechanisms figured out. Wait until you've got more media and a prettier website (no offense, its perfectly funtional and user friendly).
That way when people visit the site they'll be blown away and come back for more later, rather than writing you off as another half baked mod that'll never see the light of day. Plus you'll attract more team members, which'll help the mod along. Title: Cant wait Post by: Typheron on December 21, 2005, 02:56:12 PM well here in lies the problem, we dont have a full dev team yet, so untill we get a few more people to assist all we can really do is produce models and slowly animate and code it as we lack people who specilise in that field.
Need PR to get members to make the mod. In part i would think that given that the team has already made a semi sucessfull HL1 mod that would would not be so easily dismissed as half baked. Title: Cant wait Post by: migb on December 21, 2005, 03:19:24 PM I would really love to help the team, but I can only model and map, since I don't have a tool for mod coding
Title: Cant wait Post by: Typheron on December 21, 2005, 04:32:27 PM modeling is good, as is mapping, to become a team member you have to make either a full map or a full model (that includes skins for the model) and the v_model and p_model we will need to use in game.
Title: Cant wait Post by: Ozymandias on December 21, 2005, 05:07:28 PM I didn't realize you were still looking for members. You should put up a notice on the front page, listing the people you're looking for, and the requirements. I might even apply for the mapping spot myself.
Title: Cant wait Post by: Typheron on December 21, 2005, 05:34:12 PM well the way it is that we have everyone to make the team, we would like more than just the basic staff so things can proceed faster.
Title: Cant wait Post by: migb on December 21, 2005, 08:01:58 PM Still, you should make a clear statement that you can use more people on the team.
Title: Cant wait Post by: Razielk on December 21, 2005, 09:57:04 PM and we probably will once we have gone through the planning phase
Title: Cant wait Post by: Anonymous on December 21, 2005, 11:20:43 PM Well someone posted in the PHL forums about the mod and how it needs more members. Can someone think of anywere else?

Title: Cant wait Post by: Ozymandias on December 22, 2005, 02:30:53 AM You guys should just disable guest posting, this is getting ridiculous.
When do you plan to close the poll and decide on a setting? Title: Cant wait Post by: ChromeAngel on December 22, 2005, 08:34:50 AM Guest posting is off now, those "oops it was me" postings wind me up.
The plan for closing the setting poll is explain in this thread (http://www.banntal.de/rspecies2/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=34) and in the actual poll thread. Title: Cant wait Post by: Alhaus on December 22, 2005, 04:16:24 PM It dosn't help that logging into the RS1 forum logs you off here...
Title: Cant wait Post by: JEBUS on December 22, 2005, 04:22:32 PM Which of the following settings do you want the team to use?
++ Imperium vs Chaos ++ 23% [ 12 ] ++ Titans ++ 5% [ 3 ] ++ Imperium vs Tyranids ++ 34% [ 18 ] ++ Imperium vs Orks ++ 36% [ 19 ] Total Votes : 52 Title: Cant wait Post by: Ozymandias on December 22, 2005, 05:01:33 PM Nooo!! Not Orks!
Doesn't it could for anything that the poll you've posted on this forum is overwhelmingly in favour of the Tyranids? Title: Cant wait Post by: The Vastator on December 22, 2005, 05:06:06 PM yeah. Also think that the Orks are winning for only a vote, and that most of the newcomers didn't vote (at least it seems that to me)
Title: Cant wait Post by: Typheron on December 22, 2005, 06:50:52 PM the 2ndery poll says nids, so its highly likely thatr nids it will be as orks are not really featuring heavily in the dev team thinkning anymore.
Title: Cant wait Post by: JEBUS on December 23, 2005, 12:24:36 AM I would like orcs. Never a fan of nids. Well your choice. Any way this mod will stil rock.
Title: Cant wait Post by: migb on December 23, 2005, 03:07:09 PM I'll just add that the team should be careful to make the mod different from all the "aliens vs marines" games out there ESPECIALLY Natural Selection.
Ways to make Exterminatus more "40k-like": *Stick to the idea of having hands and weapons grown together. *Make all 'Nids variants of the same basic design. It's like that in the new tyranid edition, everything have 6 limbs and bone plates along the head and spine. *Implement Synapse control and Natural Behavior. *Having a "horde" feel, both big and small creatures. *Probably less stealth than usual for aliens. Title: Cant wait Post by: Typheron on December 23, 2005, 03:43:20 PM we have thought about this and have our own plans. You will see them once the poll has closed.
Title: Cant wait Post by: Ozymandias on December 23, 2005, 04:15:12 PM I have a hard time seeing how they *could* make it like Natural Selection. NS is entirely indoors, and has a strong focus on building structures and advancing a tech tree.
WH40K takes place entirely outdoors (at least on the table top version) and there are no player controlled structures, or tech tree. I've been playing a lot of NS lately, and one thing I really miss from many other games, is just being able to blow shit up. Don't forget to include that guys, it's kinda important :-) Title: Cant wait Post by: JEBUS on December 23, 2005, 04:27:59 PM Quote from: "migb" I'll just add that the team should be careful to make the mod different from all the "aliens vs marines" games out there ESPECIALLY Natural Selection. Exactly what I was thinking. Nids vs Marine would be to much like Star Ship Stroopers in my mind. To me Orcs just make is unquie. Not many games do you see orcs welding rocket launchers or a gun of anytype that is. But you said you had it planned out hope its good. Title: Cant wait Post by: The Vastator on December 24, 2005, 07:28:48 PM I agree with migb and Ozi.
