Hello there. It is me again. Why marines in 1st person move like fire platforms?


Why meltagun works like ignition laser gun? It shoots short ray in little time (>1sec...) that melt tanks and fat monsters.

Because thats what a marine IS. (outside of the close combat orientated chapters anyway)

Its not a lazer but a projected steam of super heated particles, sort of a super-flame thrower but far more contained.

there wearing servo assisted armour designed to aid them by boosting just about every single ability they have, in cluding the ability to aim and what better way  than having a steady upper body to aid in aiming.


No it does not, the melta produces a stream of directed partiles, its not a lascannon, its a high agitation microwave flamer using magnetic containment to direct the beam. you move the beam moves, that is our interportation of it based on our various codexes.

FYI all the weapons in EX have a subtle idling motion, so none of them are ever totally static, even when not firing.  Without playing the beta it would be hard to spot this from the in-game videos.

Not sure i'm following you here.  Do you mean that the beam/ray shouldn't move as the player turns? or that the "flow" effect of the beam from weapon to target is not as you expected?  FYI the first version was much more of a phaser beam, but the team felt this one was more fitting.

I mean meltagun shoots one time and that all. Like one shot rifle. That's why you can miss even this weapon has little range...

They are described in various codex's and rulebooks as "heat rays" which would suggest something other than a single blast. The term ray would imply that its not like a lascannon which is a one shot blast of energy.


And as we all know, microwaving something takes a little time, so the comparison would imply that it does not do it in one blow, but takes time to "cook" the target.

Additionally several of the flavour texts from both 2nd, 3rd and 4th ed rulebooks describe the hissing noise as the weapon melts its way thorugh objects, implying that it requires to be fired at objects for some time if the armour is thick enough, thus the idea that its not a single shot weapon and more of a directed beam.

The only definative piece of artwork showing a melta being used is on the box of "assault on black reach", where in the background of the image a dreadnaught is shown firing a stream of red hot something from what is clearly a multimelta.

It looks like a hyped up, more precise flamethrower.

Theres also a image of a dark angel firing the hand held one somewhere, it looks like an afterburner with a beam coming from it.

So, we belive that as theres not much fact, that its a beam weapon.
