Exterminatus - Rival Species 2 / Open Testing / Re: Bug Reports

BUG: Chose Carnifex in Lycantium. Then I guess I spawned inside a wall at the outpost. Couldn't move at all, I guess the marines who were running all over the place couldn't see me, since they didn't try to shoot me. Trying to walk, sprint and attack activated the sound effects, but no visible effects. Tried "changing team" staying tyranid, but this didn't help. Had to change to SM to fix the problem.
I got a screenshot, comming up when I find somewhere online to drop it.
++ This sort of things usually result from the server having more players than there are spawn points. The standard maps are only built to support 8 players per team. ++

Capture points: Nid and Marine control points are very clear, maybe even too clear, consider blurring them just a bit so people get that they are map-markers and not something else. On the other hand, the "neutral" markers are hard to spot, I gave up trying to find an uncaptured point, playing solo on digsite.
And now the big one: When I was playing Lycantium (as tyranid) for the first time, it was very confusing, because I could clearly see 3 imperial points, but which one of them I was supposed to capture was unclear. Making to different icons for "capture now" and "capture later" would help a lot.

Infinite loop interface bug.
In team selection, to cancel selecting a team, press esc. If you press esc, the general valve menu show up. If you get rid of that, you're still in the team selection window.
So basically you can't change your mind regarding changing team. I lost a carnifex over that one.
++Fixed in 5.5++

Well, you can always make another article containing the URL once Exterminatus is released to the public. And this way a horde of fanboys might have been halted a bit longer

Exterminatus - Rival Species 2 / Contributions / Space Marine chapters other than Ultramarines?
|

Just found the answer in the FAQ.
Q: Can I play as Blood Angels, or Lamenters, Or Space Wolfs? A: Only if you make the skins and models yourself. Were using Ultramarines at the moment thanks to their affiliation with the Tyanids. We don't plan to do any chapter specific stuff as that would basically be a new race being added. However if anyone was to make chapter specific models and equipment it may be added to the mod if its of a good quality.

Exterminatus - Rival Species 2 / Contributions / Space Marine chapters other than Ultramarines?

It's been discussed before, and as I remember the conclusion was more or less this: - It would take too much work (especially with balancing) to have individual chapters with different special equipment, different classes, different special rules etc. - If someone want to convert all of the artwork (character models + weapons + vehicles) into another chapter, they're welcome, but atm. the team has no plans to do so.

Exterminatus - Rival Species 2 / Player Discussion / Achievements in EX?

Quake Wars (I've played the demo only) has the same feature with some kind of XP/achievements. And in QW you earn small upgrades as well, like faster lock-on for rocket launcher or the option of using a grenade launcher.
Actually I like the Orange Box idea better, since it's more clear what goal you'll have to meet to get the achievement. That have often kept me playing, or returning to TF2 instead of trying out a different game.
And team achievements can be really frustrating to meet. It usually up to pure luck whether you can get on a team that is able to defend Well without loosing a single objective, or whatever. Unless you are part of a clan, of cause.
Some of the TF2 achievements can be blatantly ripped off, like accumulated kills, total victories and the "killing spree" award.
And yes, achievements do fit into 40k. The whole status thing within the SM reflect this, with purity seals, veteran status, restricted equipment etc.

Exterminatus - Rival Species 2 / Contributions / New Problem

And there is an IRC channel as well, for live communication.
What Chrome wrote in your posts was basicly this: There is a problem, and you will have to wait until someone figure out to fix it, before you can map for Ex.
