The second one was inspired by the SWRC screenies Wink  and yes the weapon slots would only be there when you're making a selection.

My original concept had a visor-like frame around it, I would agree with Raz that felt rather restrictive.

As for centre text, I dont want anything getting between me and my target  :twisted:

I've updated the mockup to reflect Raz's feedback.  The plan is for the light grey areas to fade in/out depending if they are in-use or not.

I'm trying to plan ahead for the marine's HUD.  Here's what i've come up with so far :



it's just a vey rough mockup so far.  Personally I think it's taking up too much  screen space.  What do you think?

The space marine model hasn't been rigged or animated yet, so unless you want to make a diorama of some very bored looking un-armed marines you'll have to wait.

The unit types being available all depends on the game mode, which hasnt been settled yet.

Imperial guard are being considered for use in some modes, but for the most part were planning for  the imperial players to use Space Marines.

In "Synapse" as it is currently planned all the AIs are on the Tyranid side, in order to give the effect of the Tyranids being this huge swarm and the Marines being a comparitively small, elite force.  AIs on both sides might make it feel like a bigger battle, but it would loose the aspect of fighting the swarm.

A control points system like the one you suggest hasnt been included in the planned modes because it feels like too artifical for the 40k universe, like game mechanics for its own sake.

The devourer/flesh borer/spine fist variations dont sound like they would offer significantly varied gameplay to be worth doing them all.  I'd be inclined to go for the most average one and put the other two on the back burner.

That being said if we implimented 5 different classes of gaunts we might not need to make any other tyranid player models (for some of the modes), which would be a huge effort saving...

I'd love to see your headless space marine.   In the short term we could use some marine hands being made for the weapon view models.

Guest, whoever you are, their will be either PvP or Coop maps, but not both (at first anyway)
