As mentioned in our previous update the next goal for EX is to add a new class, the genestealer.  I wasn't sure about the early choice of colouration for the stealer, so we put it to the vote on the EX forum.  The result was a unanimous decision to change from the classic blue stealer to a more EX-like Red and Black.  
Progress is going well with that, the coding, textures and model are already complete.  Farseer is working hard at the animations, but they are not yet complete.  Here is a short show reel of the 'stealer in his new colours going through his moves so far:

ChromeAngel has been adding more in-demand features to EX while the animation work is being done.  The much requested "burst fire" mode for the bolter will be ready for testing shortly as is the support for in-game countdowns.  In-game map voting is also in the pipeline, but it is questionable if it will be ready in time for the next public beta.


In the community Nqss AKA SIR_halyavshik has been working on a custom map EX_Hivecity, which is now ready for beta testing.  Check out the download on the EX Contributions forum.


The team is also collecting and balancing options for the next great Exterminatus poll.  So if you have any bright ideas for us make sure to write them up in the requests thread before the poll opens.

We look forward to unleashing the awesomeness that is Exterminatus beta 6.0 before too long.  Keep the faith brothers.

Farseer, you sir are VERY talented. Really, i mean it. its the  best animated model ive seen in EX so far. I hope you will get a shot at the other models too, they could use some updates.

I am sooo gonna keep that as my signature... If it was said on the internet, then its the truth.

Thank you for the kind words, i would like to give the other classes a shot, when i get the time. I have to finish animating the Gene, then finish a model that started development like a year ago and i still haven't finished it! After that, i need to make a prop, and i could prolly balance that with animating another class, if Chrome is up to it.

Also, the credit doesn't go to me alone, i had Chrome, Typheron and Mr. Cryrid (Micheal Taylor @ http://www.cryrid.com/) help me out during the process, their knowledge is invaluable and without them, i wouldn't have done it.

Once more, thanks for the kind words, i feel warm inside.... or it could be that 3-bean salad. Smiley

You definately should give the gun and attack anims some love, make something fancy out of them (reloading firing chainsword etc.) or even add awesome animations on the maps like chrome did in lycantium, landing spore graphics in the background, landing thunderhawks... i think you get the picture Smiley cant wait to see more of your work keep it up !

I have think of something.  many tester prefer to stay marine, and be nids is for them not as cool as spehs mehrenhs. Take the  warior shooter, he is insanely powerfull ( when you face it as marine ) but he fell like a water gun, no recoil, no accuracy and all.  the fex is still hard to play  with all the litle door and all. And lack of the BATTLE BROTHER trip.

We know too, when Natural selection will came out, EX will be in his shadow, same gameplay, blahblah.

So it is possible to use the nids race as a AI ? this would make somethink like a " last stand" as dow2 gamemode.

There where a little mod called eXterminate ( weird, no ? ^^ ) who was doing that. just spawn wawe of zombie/antlion/head crab on a arena where random weapon/ammo spawn. 

With a team based cooperation, or maybe some objective, and a insane difficulty ( they are fking nids, not 1shoot little zombie ) this can be awesome. The "hold the line against shitload of alien" thing suit well the space marine.

I've got half a dozen or so fairly hefty bugs on my TODO list at the moment plus maintaining all the maps now that Typheron isn't able to contribute.  It's basically just me and Farseer working on EX these days.  Anything halfway ambitious like a co-operative mode is looking very unlikely.
