Now, im a good modeler.. just that i dont know how to get stuff ingame... could you suggest a tutorial that actualy is useful or maybe shed some light on how you learned how to get your weapon ingame?

If so, then i gladly do some contributions  Cool

Welcome Stray  Cheesy

Yes the boltgun is actualy in-game.  Sorry I cant give you any links to help you.  Cyberman was good enough to rig and animate my boltgun model, resulting in the in-game model you see in our screenshots.

At what point are you having difficulty?

If you're interested in contributing models dont worry about having to get it completely in-game yourself, i'm quite used to having to apply these finishing touches myself anyway

Are their any particular weapons you are interested in modelling?

Okay, thanks Cheesy
i think you need to have textures on the weapon to be able to even make it a .SMD right? that makes the first barrier then Tongue and since i havent managed to do that yet i havent looked in to what more needs to be done...

i use xsi mod tool for this kinda stuff fyi

well it looks like your starting to cover the marine weapons pretty well... hmm...
Maybe i could do a shotgun? to be precise... Combat Shotgun: Arbites Pattern III: Lawbringer
I believe thats the scouts SG

currenty, im afraid to say, scouts do not feature in the plans for RS2.

Were working towards using the Tactical squad in 40k as the basis for the Space Marine forces and they dont get shotguns in the rules, sadly (its nids, shotguns and chainsaws would rule, or have i been watching too much Evil Dead again???)

the best thing would be to model a tactical squad based weapon for the moment.

This is not to say that we will not expand the marines range later on when we have a working version to play with, but currently were trying to limit what we do till we see what5 happens.

This is mainly due to RS1 getting out of hand with all the equipment and races being added to it. We dont want to go the same route again. Quality over quantity as they say.

Bets bet is to come onto the IRC channel and talk to us in real time, although it may be a little while to you get a responce but we will respond. Otherwise set up a time and place in IRC to talk to us and we will come chat.

Also as long as you make the model and the skin other team members can port it in game as needed as long as its of a high enough quality for the mod.

On the team we refer to XSI as "The Hellbeast" because it is such an awful tool to use, we prefer 3DS Max or Milkshape 3D.  That said I believe Zenarion uses the hellbeast, so you might want to ask him about skinning.

At this still require weapons models for the Carnifex and Lictor Claws and a replacement for the marine hands.  Everything else is either complete or being worked on by someone.  The claws I consider to be a fairly trivial piece of work, the hands are a particularly complex task.

If you want to make the scout's shotgun that's fine, we can coniser that a feature for a future release.

I like XSI too. Tried milkshape some years ago, gave up on it.

If you want to contact Zenarion you could PM him, join the IRC channel (#rspecies2 @ quakenet), try his e-mail and/or his Messenger profile.
Pleanty of options.

Choice of tool is very much a matter of personal taste, whatever you're happy with.  The flamer looks good BTW  Cheesy

Uh, a new 40k mod.
Maybe this one will actually see a release - the mortality for 40k mods have been pretty high.

I think it is great that people from one mod can help other mods out. It makes the modding community a nicer place to be, and will hopefully result in better mods being released.

It doesn't quite work like that. Although there's been cooperation, there's also been a lot of bad blood in the past, especially with 40K mods.

I would run my Mod like a software company, and thus not allow any "dual" work except for freelancers!

It appears my information was out of date, Zenarion tells me he has also switched to using Max.  Sorry Stray, it looks like we cant offer you any help with XSI :/

I dont have a problem with contributors working for other mods too, just so long as everyone agrees whenever content is shared.
