In order to help you add your favorite chapter to EX i've decided to share the source files for the marine skins.  This should make it much easier to re-brand the EX Ultramarines to other chapter colors and symbols.

You can get the skins in Photshop's PSD format here

or in Paint Shop Pro's .PSPIMAGE format here

Each zip file is about 25MB.  If we get some good re-skins posted here i'll look into including them in the main mod.

Thanks, I hope there'll be lots of awesome skins <3

This reminds me, someone brought up that the personal spraypaint could be used as emblem on the shoulder guard. Cheesy

I'd love to try this but when I convert it to a .vtf ingame I can see the color changes I made but it is with a checker pattern. Any idea what is causing this? Thanks

Could be to do with the specular map reflections or translucency related.  Can you attach a screenshot?

Ok I didn't fix it. I am completely new to this so this is pretty much just a recolor. I decided to try to make the black consul.

Here are some:

ChromeAngel picture with the dead marine is what i was talking about. This is something to do with reflecting light because they show up more in different lighting environments.

Also I haven't done the one knee yet lol.

You have permission to use the "Modify" button Wink                                                   ^

my chest.vtf  looks like this

"VertexLitGeneric"
{
   "$basetexture"   "player\marine\ultramarine\chest"
   "$bumpmap"   "player\marine\chest_normal"
   "$envmap"   "env_cubemap"
   "$envmaptint" "[0.6 0.6 0.6]"
   "$normalmapalphaenvmapmask"   1
   "$model"   1
   "$surfaceprop"   "metal"
}

So it should be getting the reflection from a nearby env_cubemap, with the intensity set by the transparency of the normal map (which i'm hoping you have left alone) multiplied by 0.6.

now if all you changed was "$basetexture" to "player\marine\black_consul\chest" then is would probably happen to Ultramaines too, it's just easier to spot now because the reflection is on a black background.

Hey, maybe I could try an angry marine skin, once I've got some time!

I am not quite familiar with the 40k universe, could you recommend me some chapters to try to make?

Also as a bonus maybe devs/contributers should get special armor?  Grin

There is a big old list of chapters at lexicanium ( http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/List_of_Space_Marine_Chapters ), not sure how many of those are considered to be cannon.

I for one would like too see some Bloodangels ( http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Blood_Angels ) skins for the marine team.

The Crimson Fists ( http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Crimson_Fists ) would be fairly easy to do being as they are mainly blue like the ultramarines.

I like the sound of special armor.

You could also alternated teams per wave for example ultramarines start then crimson fists come to reinforce them then ultramarines reinforce  etc..

AFIAK Each chapter have their own territories to look after.  It's pretty rare that situation is bad enough that two or more chapters have to be deployed to the same battlefield.
