Hey, I played this mod for about 4-5 rounds and decided to make a post here about what I feel about the mod. To be honest, I didn't enjoy the time I spent playing this game, instead of making a wall of text I'll go ahead and outline my different criticisms. Warning: If you do not enjoy reading negative comments about the game then don't read this, I'm already tired of all the crap I got from people while I was criticizing it in-game. Also I am not much into the lore of warhammer so get used to me saying golden lines such as "The blue people were shooting at the aliens".

What is this game going for?

I'm not quite sure what the game is going for, at the moment it's basically like the game Aliens vs Predators but with classes. The classes however are not different enough to be it's selling point (so to speak), their usually just Melee alien, Melee alien with stealth, Melee alien that can scream, etc. So what is it going for? I honestly don't know.

Strategy (or rather, a lack of it)

Probably my biggest issue at this point is a lack of any strategy in this mod with either faction and class. The imperials have pretty brain dead tactics (shoot aliens and defend points) but the aliens are even worse. Basically, as an alien you press W, and then you right click, congratulations you have won the game. Bar the occasional dodging of grenades and knowing which class counters another there really isn't any strategy involved with this race, even the zombie mods in cs:source had more tactics than this, it doesn't help that the maps are so linear there's never a chance to do ambushes as the aliens or defend different choke points as the humans. Speaking of level design...

Weak Level design

As I mentioned the level design is linear but that's not the only flaw. The maps are also lacking in variety. "In this game mode you capture points, and in this one you...capture points...yeah that's about all we've got". There's no difference from one map to another, no sniping posts, no cover to take advantage of, just hallways or empty spaces. Aesthetically the levels are pleasing, although the vehicles have this cartoony aspect to them that makes them look more like toys than anything else.

Well that's about all I got, I tried to not sound like I was complaining but... well here we are. Hope you guys take this criticism lightly, after all I'm just a random tester. Cheers dudes.

Hi Golden Android,

Thanks for taking the time to post your feedback.  I am sorry to hear you weren't having fun Sad

I split this off from the" Suggestions and Requests" thread, because the just pointed out problems without offering solutions (which is what the thread was about).

Q) What is this game going for?
A) Team deathmatch set in the Warhammer 40K universe.  We are not setting out to copy any other game.  We're working out how this plays as we go.

Strategy - You will have been playing alongside and against experienced EX players, you didn't see then planning any strategy, they just got on and did it.

Weak level design - Yeah probably, our only dedicated mapper has only made a handful maps and is still learning.

Err, this game is going to be team deathmatch? Or did you just misspeak and mean capture and hold? Sorry just threw me in a loop.

Yeah thinking about it now I probably should have made this a separate post. Thanks for the response, I wish you guys good luck.

Classes, wave spawns and objectives, It's all decoration layered on top of TDM.  In the end it's all about the combat.
