I would say Orks, Dark Eldar or Necrons.
The advantage of these teams are that they are unique for the 40K universe, and they are evil.

Marines vs. Tyranids seems just like Starcraft or Alien vs. Preaditor
Marines vs. Chaos would seem like blue vs. red team.

Haven't voted, mostly because I didn't want to tip the balance when everyone seemed prepared for 'Nids as second team.

I don't mind whichever I fight so long as its AI vs Players.  Still, waves of small nids or Greenskins would be fun...

Hmm I wonder if the Marine will have an AI buddie to follow him still?

I don't think so.
The Space Marines are supposed to be a small force of deadly super-elite soldiers that are (almost) always outnumbered, so having AI-controlled sidekicks would not fit with the theme.
Sidekicks would be OK for Orcs, and fit perfectly with Tyranids.

But it's perfectly possible to have AI-controlled IG units as guards at the objectives or spawnpoints, making it harder to sneak past the fighting units.

well it would depend on the number of @nids we can throw at the SM players. Its entirely possable iof we can get enough nids at one time in the source game engine that squadmates would be neccicary for the SMs.

There was talk of AI IG to hold key areas  that the SMs must re-inforce before they are all wiped out. Although it all depends on what we can do with the source engine when we get iunto the workings of it.

errrm yea about that, since when are orks unique to 40k? orks of similar styles are found everywhere, warcraft u have orcs, lotr u have orcs, orcs are evrywhere and they are all of similar nature, they flood the enemy.
necrons are just futuristic necromancers with there dark minions, the c'tan kinda being the necromancer and the necrons being the skeles.

I said space orcs.
Orcs are common, but not in a sci-fi universe.
Same with necrons, although they are quite similar to the Terminators from the movies with the same name.
And necrons are not undead, they are advanced machines inhabited by an alien race (think SM Dreadnoughts).

necrons are the equivilent of the undead, legions of skelitonal warriors raised from tombships.

There basically space undead.

Nit picking here but space orks are still spelt ork, thus to distinguism themselfs from there fdantsy counterparts.

There was even a test in white dwarf about it once, back when i did not know the difference.

It may be ortks now after the vote on the RS1 forum swung into their favour, although by one vote. Makes my life easyer as i can convert a bunch of the models i have for RS1 to RS2 thus instanly producing a rokkit launcha and a big choppa.

Well don't forget that in HL2 there is already a an AI controller. A really simple one where you can make them follow or move to an area. Just make it so a Space Marine hangs around the respawn and players(using the same code as HL2) could have it follow them and move to where they want it(again already in HL2)The Space Marine could respawn....say ever 2 minutes and more depending on the player amount. And then if you want just tweak it.

This dosn't, and really shouldn't be the most important thing on you mind right now. But just a thought.

This isn´t fair. I hadn´t have the chance to vote here  Sad , the poll was close when I register here. I am for Space Orks, because they are a funny race and they are better to do clan wars. At the moment it sounds that if tyranids get into the game it will be more a cooperative gamestyle. I think it would make fun too, but it is very similar to Starship Troopers.

And nice discussion about Orcs and Orks, in Germany we say allways Orks. We haven´t this differences  Smiley .
