on terms of what SM chapter being used, are we sticking with Ultramarines or is that jsut for show, if its for show what are the nominees of which chapter to use  Smiley

so far we are going along with ultramarines, although they have been skinned in a way that they can easily be changed at a later date  Smiley

woudl there ever be the diea of creating a new chapter, and base the game on there battles and there campaigns etc

Well, I can't see how it should be any more difficould to make a mod based on a chapter, compared to based on an overview of the game.

Except someone might spend a lot of time reading in the chapter's codex, but I guess the fans already knows the facts.

We could make an ultramarines mod, whith them batteling at Maccragge against 'Nids, orks at Armageddon and chaos in the Horus hersery.
And team them up with Imperial Guards at some points.

As I see it, is it more important to get the chapter feel, or to see some different chapters work?

nono, no different enemies, quality over quantity, this game is going to focus on 2 very well done team other then many teams(like RS1)

Sorry, I misread the post.
I didn't see that you actually discussed creating a NEW chapter.
And I agree that that would be a bad idea, mostly because people would have difficulty relating to an unknown chapter.

But yes, the mod should focus on two teams.
At least until they are properly finished and balanced.

It is not unlikely to "mix in" some Imperial Guard units at some later maps. After all, the Space Marines are almost always acting as elite spearhead troops for the guard.
What I want isn't that guards should be available at every map, but only in some of those we make after properly finishing the marines.

there has been talk of using some IG units in certain game modes, although they would be either AI controlled to balance a lot of nids, or a basic starting class where later in the map if you hold out long enough SMs arrive and you can then respawn as them.

well u should stick to a codex chapter.
It would be the easiest i guess...
no special stuff like robes for drak angels and so on :wink:

i say, let the polls decide

if tyranids win : Ultramarines
if orks/orcs!? win: Blood Angels
if Chaos wins: we would need a good generic one (either UltraM. Dark Angels (without the robes if it would would demand more work from you guys, as you are already working yer buttz off Smiley ) or pehaps..hmm, let us see; imperial fists?

if titan/heresy wins: well, it doesnt seem like its gonna win, so im gonna skip this one hehehe

BTW: feels great to see that you guys are doing this mod for Source, havent played it for hmm, what is it now..1-1.5 years perhaps? i gave up on normal HL short after when the new CPU arrived

as my name says and my army behind me i would also love to see black templars... but now they would need these ?clothes? and the chained-to-arm weapons to staisfy me... thats why i think simple codex marines would be the best and it would be miore time to do other stuff than making chains and stuff  :wink:

As I see it, adding a chapter to the fun could be done once the moddellers/skinners have made all the models that are actually needed.
I guess there will be a period where pretty much all models are made, and the team will focus on programming, mapping and testing.

Of cause, you shouldn't count on having special rules for the chapters, as this will require additional programming and testing.

but it would be cool if it turns out to be somekind of deathwatch that you can still have some kind of specialists in it by choice of chapter. for example a black templar brother is good in melee but isnt as skilled in ranged fighting...
on the other hand their could be a space wolves deathwatch member that holds his  bolter like a pistol and so on  :wink:
i think it would be fun but of course it would need balancing and much work...

so we can ask: "maybe later??? pleeeaaaassssseeeee?Huh? Or we will  :cry:  :cry:  :cry: "
