I didn't find anything on this so I'll begin.
Is RS2 going to implement terminators? The terminators in RS1 were totally sweet but I didn't think their animations were that great.
If there are, how would they work in RS2? The same way they worked in RS1?

So far it hasnt really been planned to have terminators, we found that they were one of the main balancing problems in RS1, so for the sake of gameplay i doubt they will be included, even though they are cool

It has been discussed for a reeeeally long time, and the final decision was to leave them out. Main reasons: * Problems in finding a fair way to decide who get's the terminator armor. * SM are already super-humanly strong, we don't need super-super humans.

for reasons of the above as mentioned.
Were looking at a kill team approach to the space marines, small compact and flexable. Termis really are not in this group.
Thats not to say they wont come in at some point, one of the most memorable Nid incursions was the defence of the Ultramarines polar fortresses by the entuire 1st company and im sure dark wulf would agree with me when i say it was a last stand.
But things are only going to be implimented if ther have more than a "it would be cool" value.
The other issue is the tyranid lack of heavy firepower, sure there evil in CCW but a storm bolter or assult cannon wont let that happen.
it will be a long time before we even decide whither or not to hav them.

From what I know, carnifexes are planned, and they are getting countered by marine heavy weapons.

good good
please no terminators untill geenstealers are implemented and even then it will have to be close corridoors with many many ways for a stealer to jump up right in your face. there has to be so many that you cant even remember where the holes are. but on a plus side hopefully marine will be much more harder to kill with the little grunts called gaunts and easy to kill yourself with ya acything talons.

What my impression was, what that the desicion was this:
Space Marine basic class: Tactical M. with bolters Earn points with bolter to spend on heavy/special weapons.
Tyranid basic class: Warriors with gaunt minions Earn points as warrior to play as greater specie (Zoanthrope, Lictor, Carnifex etc.)

thats basically the plan for the first release right there, although the some more special weapons for the space marine team, roughly the selection that you would have for a tactical squad on the Table Top with a few extras as is needed by balance.
The main thing is that all additions to this will be on the basis of what happens with the first release. If BLAM we get massive overnight and our Dev team trebles in size then we will be adding as much content as possable, roughly whatever is being asked for that we think is resonable in the contect of what were trying to make this mod.
If it goes a bti slower than that extremem example then it will be a case of prioritising what needs to go in against what would be cool.

If you get the brood mother mixed in with the tyranids/gene stealers, then your gonna need more that a terminator. maybe a......... D R E A D N O U G H T They rocked in RS1, so why not in RS2? okay, okay, so it wont really be fair. But 1 dreadnought= 10 lictors, so you could balance it out....

*slaps rebellion with a hairy goldfish*
no.
why? for exactly the reason you stated, it would not be fair.
Read the FAQ about stuff like this, then read it again.
RS2 is not a all out war simulation, were going for small tactical shooter on the part of the space marines within a more movie-esque enviroment so it looks like your in the middle of a war, it feels like your in the middle of a war but without the need for the next biggest tanks from GW to balance things out.

the tactical squad/film based scene is perfect for the marines, makes clans interesting, designated Sergeant, Heavy wep speicalists etc. also not every space marine chapter has a big avaliability of dreadnouths, ok UM's probally do, but they won't be dispatched for every Scenario, you don't read many 40k fluff stories where Dreddys win the fight, its the HQ classes, the termy or the sergeant who wins the story, if they don't win the enemy probaly has
