Title: Vote for the next new Exterminatus feature

This is a shortlist of suggested features for the next major version of EX.  I'd like you players to vote on which we should do first.

  • Map Voting & Rapid Fire Bolters - Add a map vote phase during the intermission after a map is won.  Add a server option to change bolters to a weaker but faster firing mode akin to RS 1
  • Meat Grinder Mode - Additional game mode.  See who can get the most kills in a given time.  No Missions, No Objectives.
  • Ammo Dumps & Bio Mods - Add fixed locations where marines can refill there ammo allowances.  Add menu options to the tyranid classes to allow them to upgrade their Speed or Armor or Attacks.
  • Terminators & Genestealers - Add a Terminator player class (heavy armor, storm bolter and powerfist) as a 3rd tier option for the marine team.  Add a Genestealer player class (small, fast, excellent melee) as a 1st tier option for the Tyranid team.
  • Apothecary & Healer Thropes - Add an apothecary player class (medic) as a 3rd tier option for the marine team.  Add a Zopanthrope/Healer player class ( replace the current psi powers with more support based ones ) as a 3rd tier option for the Tyranid team.
  • Plasma Cannons & Barbed Stanglers - Give heavy marines the option to use a Plasma Cannon (large area of effect, massive damage, slow firing, long range) instead of Heavy Bolters (3rd tier player class).  Add a Barbed Strangler (large area of effect, high damage, medium range) carrying Carnifex player class as a 3rd tier option for the Tyranid team.

Hmm hard to say, I voted for the meat grinder mod since it looks like td (team death match) I would love all of these personally :D

yeah, hopefully all of this will be implented but i personally love the Terminator&Genestealer thingy  ::)

Hmm hard to say, I voted for the meat grinder mod since it looks like td (team death match) I would love all of these personally :D
The poll option was originally called "Team Deathmatch" then as I was typing the full description it occurred to me how much it reminded me of the Meat Grinder mission from the 40k rulebook and changed it at the last minute.

In time I'd like to do all these and more, but something has to be first.

And I voted for Ammo Dumbs & Bio Mods, because maybe it is better to improve the elements which at the moment exists, before to implement new content.

We need the basic stuff implemented first, ere go, i voted for ammo dumps and bio mods (ammo dumps being the more important one).... A few things first tho, can we make it ammo dumps and bio mods AND healing? because after ammo dumps i want healing to be implemented (ofc at NO expense to the offensive power of the zoanthrope) and bio mods doesnt seem THAT important to me....

Please dont do the gene's and terminators. Yes, they're cool, but they're additions to EX and we dont need additions to EX until the basic stuff gets implemented, a terminator with no ammo is a dead one.

P.S (is there some law that gives beta testers the right to award TWO points to something instead of ONE? if yes, ammo dumps x2, if no, ammo dumps x1)

P.P.S you can add ammo dumps AND the new game mode together, kinda like tf2 does with its class updates....

We have to keep an eye on balance, if we give marines a buff like the Ammo Dump the Tyranids need a buff too in order to maintain the balance of power.  By releasing updates in pairs (the smallest balanced change) we get to make more frequent updates, which should help keep the attention of the players out there.

I really want to keep the updates small and relatively frequent now we have a solid base to build on.  We can really see how much effect each update has on game play like this.  Valve don't have to worry about that since they will have a testing department large enough to find this out before going public.

This doesn't mean I wont be doing any more polishing on the existing features.  It's just nice to have a break and make something new, so it feels like i'm making progress.

Although Termis and Genes would be additions, they would also add more variety and make the game more fun to play because of the extra choice which also means more strategy, hopefully :P

As much as I'd like ammo dumps for Space Marines, it has the unintended consequence of adding to the camping Space Marines currently can do. Imagine a heavy bolter guarding a point with no ammo limit.

Currently (and this may be as much the players as the actual game), SMs can camp and reduce the game to trench warfare. There's the tyranid "trench" and the SM "trench" with about 30-50 feet of no-man's-land. Going in there is usually death for either team. I think the genestealer would be a great trenchbuster if it's fast enough to dodge fire. However, the termi would then be important to be a melee/ close combat counter. I'd like to see the assault terminator with a thunder hammer instead if we go for the terminator option.

it may seem that way but we have untill march 22 untill the poll ends so it might change drastically in the next few weeks (but i hope it stays as termis and genes :P)

Jesus christ i have been itching for a space hulk themed FPS to come back and this will help it more! (seriously, you guys can branch out a Space hulk themed minimod for this)

I'd love to see Terms in, but I'd also like to see some more team based gameplay with medic classes or support classes with heavy, good range attacks.

well regarding rapid fire bolter ... its very easy to implement chrome ... you can make them for example  shoot 3 times faster and do 3 less damage... not sure what you think about it though.

its not that simple, make it 3 times as weak would massivly upend the marines abilities to do damage when in close and at range, as your going to have to hit with more shots to do equal damage to the current system. This would require an extensive re-balance of classes to keep things fair.

Additionally were in the bolter is mot a machien gun camp, and dotn really want to do this. Better effort could eb spend adding a 3 burst, long cooldown  2nd fire mode i think.

not bad idea about the burst but still a bolter is an assault rifle... well its quite hard to hit something atm with the bolter since nid players learned how to outmaneuver shots easily... but making them rapid fire is something of second importance, so it will be the awesome termies :D i wonder how you will implement the storm bolter ingame and how it will affect the balance since termie is a good alrounder: with his storm bolter he can lay waste to almost any nid due to a high ROF and with his powerfist hes a cc monster. a termie being killed ridiculously easy by nid claws wont work here ;)

current tewrmi thinking is 2 blters stuck together, effectivly firing 2 shots per trigger pull but wiht poor accuracy due to the close range nature of the gun.

This is of course subject to change in testing

actually the twin linked version of the storm bolter is the chaos version...the space marine one has a rapid firing mechanism that shoots one shot out of 1 barrel and then it shoots the second one as far as i remember its operating mechanism from the rulebook... due to its inaccuracy it has to have a pretty high ROF to make it balanced

we know, however its more of what's doable/expected in game issue than the fluff of it. have one shot makes it easyer to balance that shot VS a stream of shots.

This is of course all academical because we have really no idea how its going to work till its in game.

i appeal on your skilled mod making abilities :D i know you will make the right choice. i guess a stormbolter with double the ROF of a nrmal one would make it seem as it should :) but still its up to you. cant wait for it to see.

not sure if you noticed it but didn relic steal your hvy bolter sound and used it as reaper
autocannon firing sound in chaos rising ? seems like theyve stolen some of your work
