1  Exterminatus - Rival Species 2 / Player Discussion / Re: Rival species 1: cant join servers on: October 31, 2008, 08:47:07 AM
That would be because there are no RS1 servers to join.  If you want to play it you will either need to host a server yourself or find someone who can as there are no perminant servers.

That would be the inferno pistol and chainsword combo for the veteran class.
3  Exterminatus - Rival Species 2 / News / Re: Beta Blastoff on: August 18, 2008, 02:27:42 PM
All of our beta testers are hand picked from the community.  Most people who have beta access have been in the community for a long time and also contribute something to the mod.  The reason we are particularly picky is because in past experiences there have been versions leaked to the public and handfulls of people who just want to get their hands on the mod early and are not interested in the testing process.  Stick around and participate in the forum and IRC channels and perhaps next time we are looking for new testers you will be able to get a spot.

Only when we deem the mod ready will we release it for everyone to play.  Sadly we cannot give any sort of time scale on when that will be.

I find that forgeworld has lots of great models you can use for reference material.  Below is a link to their 40k terrain.

Hope that helps

7  Exterminatus - Rival Species 2 / Player Discussion / Achievements in EX? on: December 02, 2007, 12:12:44 AM
They have got a similar system on xbox live, I will have a look at things they are using for achievements for some ideas.  Might be worth considering thinking up some team working based achievements?

I have got to agree with typh on this, GW has in the past held the axe over our heads simply because some forum members were using GW artwork for their avatars.  If we hadnt turned off avatars we would have got the chop.

If they decided to make a FPS, they wouldnt hesitate in closing down mods, when the only alternative is for people wanting a 40k FPS is to buy GW's own creation!

10  Exterminatus - Rival Species 2 / Player Discussion / RS1: Gaming Thread on: April 13, 2007, 02:07:28 PM
Hi and welcome to the forum!

There are quite a few of us who are still on the look out for games, recently however it seems to be a bit quiet on the gaming front at the moment.  Your best bet at finding someone to play is to join our irc channels #wh40k for RS1 and #rspecies2 for Ex.  There are usually several people in there who want a game and when there are a few people on the server more people usually turn up.

The idea of regular games of RS has been played with, perhaps it is time to bring the subject up again?

If Gordon Freeman can kill all those combine nearly single handedly, I think a space marine has fairly good odds

13  Exterminatus - Rival Species 2 / Player Discussion / No other Races :'( on: January 16, 2007, 11:29:08 PM
Welcome to the forum  Smiley

No we wont be doing other races, it has been decided from very early on with our experiences from Rival Species.  The main problem is the balancing, it is really not as easy as you think, while trying maintaining the fluff.  The 2nd problem is the actual content; we dont have a large enough team to create every thing in the 40k universe, and in the event that we were to add one extra race, there would be people complaining all over the place "why isnt *insert race here* included! they are the best!!!".  Basically we cant please everyone.

We did have several polls before we started work on the content for EX on what race to include and the results were that we should do Nids

If you would like to play a game with all the races except Tyranids and Dark Eldar there is Dawn of War and our previous mod that is still in developement Rival Species http://www.rivalspecies.com/.  If you dont have half life, it is available in pretty much every game shop for about £10.
