Hosting a server does not work for me, for instance the sc something or other thing updater tool.
When ever I try to make a short cut and then type in the game dir and stuff in it lets me do it, but when I double click it for the appenchur science txt download screen thing it just shuts down after 1 second and I try again and it does it again, and if you think its "Done", nope it does not give me the other stuff for it which is very annoying, and the dedicated server logged on thing, that has the "Missing gameinfo.txt"
and the 3rd? does not work, no players join (and yes I have done that one on others also)

gameinfo.txt should be in the sourcemods/ex folder. The first draft of today's patch 5.01 may have placed it in the sourcemods folder by mistake (in which case you should just move it into the ex folder by hand).
If you are starting your server from the command line don't forget to put quotes around the path to the ex folder. The space in "program files" often confuses command line programs that use spaces to separate their arguments.

ok thanks for the info however it still shows it missing when ever i try to run the ded server what file should i throw that game.text into rightt now its just in /steam/apps/*name*/Sourcemods/ex im still new to the ded server idea and trying to get to to work

Sounds like your sourcemods folder is in the wrong place, it wants to be in the steamapps folder, at the same level as your *name* folder.

nope my file is at steam\apps mian folder so from what your saying its all good
but i still get the error c\program\gameinfo.text
