Is it possible that a smaller tyranid species might be introduced, hopefully one as a base class (you can choose it without using points). Many of the maps seem designed to confound the larger tyranids, forexamples one area on lycantium near one of the last oint, a small hallway where warriors must duck to enter, meaning they become sitting ducks if they try to enter the hall, allowing marines to sit back in relative safety.

I know your adding genestealers soon, is it possible it could be made to be the Tyranid base class with warriors getting a buff and becoming more expensive? Not sure how no ranged weapon would work, but the Warriors aren't all that great at it as is.

Hi silveralen, welcome to the forum.  Genestealers are planned to be a basic class option, alongside the  warrior class.  Tyranid teams should then start a game with a mix of warriors and stealers.

The hallway on Lycantium is the only example of a deliberately "marines only" route that I can think of.  Our mappers have taken pains to ensure that tyranids can navigate normally.

I agree the choice of tyranids as the xeno side has presented us with more technical and balance issues than if another humanoid race.  Tyranids have been a pain in the ass.   I doubt the gameplay would have been nearly as interesting if the xeno side had been Chaos Marines or Orks.

Glad to hear it, and the Gaunts look cool, especially since they seem to be hovering slightly lol. I haven't exactly been able to try many maps, But I recall one a spaceship that was very difficult to maneuver in, but that was mostly Carnifexs and Zoans, so it wasn't to terrible. Glad to hear the genestealers are a base class though, should be interesting!

I also agree with the being more interesting statement, just alot harder to balance.

a playable gaunt would be cool, cuz little thing who move fast will be a pain to kill with a gun who fire so slowly...  this can make a anti specialist nyd too, he would use a entire canister of fuel to kill a single one...

maybe make a gardmen class too ?

We did a check with the requirements for the player controlled gaunt, the current set of animations would not work correctly (NPC's have different animation requirements than PC's) thus turning them into a playable class is just not feasible at this time.

Guardmen are not planned as a playable class.

That vid if from 2 years ago when the gaunts were cut from the lineup, at this stage if we could get the AI code for them working, they may show up. But its not a priority due to the complexities of it for very little reward.
