Hi everyone, I started moddeling with a program called Cinema4D a couple of months ago. Last week I started out with a space marine. After having done the basic moddeling I was searching for some reference and found this site. The work on my marine is still in progress, but I'd like to show what I have so far: http://www.cinema4d.nl/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=7747I need to fill the gaps between the armour and still need to add a lot of detail. I also like to know where the team gets those fantastic textures, or how and with wich program they make them. Maybe someone can help me with that. For the rest, comments are welcome

cause the link posted there does not directly reference an image file but rather a php generated website... you can still see the pics if you post the link into your adress line.
as to your marine: he's definitely recognizeable as a marine, but getting a space marine model "just right" seems to be one of the hardest tasks any aspiring model can get themselves into.

To Eltharyon,
This is the kind of comments that gets nobody further. It's okay to say my model is not good, I want people to give comments. But please add what you think is not right in your comment. Tell me wich proportions I didn't get right.
To other users,
Comments are more than welcome, but please point out what I have to improve...

The space between his two legs must be wider, and the arms are too straight too. The main problem of that space marine is that he is standing in a very unnatural position. Otherwise, i think it is a good marine, you just have to work a bit on the way he stands. You must work a bit on the the pelvis area either. My conclusion is that i like that marine, he is well done, but you must work on the way he stands, and make it more natural. To Eltharyon,
This is the kind of comments that gets nobody further. You should say that more kindly. It is important on a forum too keep a good relationship between members, so you must pay attention and not say things in a way that can hurt people. EDIT: why the hell is that quote tag not working? +++ Because you need to quote the original writer's name +++

Thanks for all the replies guys,
I'll work on the way he is standing and I'll try to make him wider without distorting the proportions to much.
To storm-wolf Do you only mean the back with pelvis area, or the whole groinal area, which would mean front and backside?
To Eltharyon Sorry I didn't mean to say it this way (problem with my girlfriend, was a little pissed about it), I'd still really like to now what you think I can improve.
Keep the comments going, Im gonna work on these tonight, maybe tomorrow.

Hi Eladon, welcoem to the forum. I made the EX marine, it took 10 revisions before I got to the version we have today. Yours its certainly closer than my first attempt The lower torso area looks too tall to me you want to shorten the up a bit and raise the lower-side edges of the chest armor to leave a bigger gap between it and the belt. The thighs look too chunky for the shin pads, I suggest scaling up the shinpads and scaling down the thighs, about 10 or 20 % should do the trick. I'd also suggest moving the elbows and the bottom of the shoulderpads down a bit. My skins are UV mapped in Lithunwrap, global illumination baked in 3DS Max 7.0 and painted in Paint Shop Pro 8. I look forward to seeing future versions.

Hi everyone, Update I have seen my first pictue doesnt work anymore, I dont know why but somehow its gone. I've got a new one for you, hope this one will last longer... http://www.cinema4d.nl/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=7795I have put my marine in a shooting stance, and added some gun I made earlier for another project. I'm planning to work on the bolter soon, this is just a temporary solution. I have also made some changes in the proportions, hope this is what u guys meant.

thats mrk 8 ( or is it 9) armour, so the head is supposed to be like that, gives protection to the neck joint.
other than that, yehy too skinny, but a improvement.

I like the neck protector, it makes it look more complete, i agree though, too tall, still needs to be more chunky

The longer shoulder pads do look better to me, but the lower boarder is out of proportion to the vertical border now :/
Due to the new pose I cant tell if you followed my suggestion for the lower torso.
The legs look better, but could still use some work on the proportions, chunkier shin armor and wider feet mainly. The kneepads dont look particularly smooth compred with other parts of the model, prehaps you could have a bash at improving them once the proportions are right.
I'd be interesting in knowing the polycount of this model too.
