Hi all,

It's been a couple of months since I last checked out this mod so I thought I'd have a quick peek to see how it's progressing. The new models look quite nice. Am I right in thinking that the Marines will now get AI planetary defence forces?

Is there an estimate for how long it'll be before something playable is up and running? Erm that's it really.

Thanks,

well lets see, we have an alpha that the testers have access too, the rest is on the front page.

Yes marines get AI PDF to help support and generally act as cannon fodder. They do not however get to control them, as the marines have their own objectives.

there AI defence mainly on things. Marine players will nto be able to tell them where to go or what to do and may spend most of their time saving them from certain gibbery-spikey-death.

The PDF will be part of the map's scenarios, rather than following the marine's commands as the brood AIs will.  Maps will also contain broods that will operate in simlar way, so that the team can encounte already in-progress staged fights between PDF squads and AI controlled broods.

Sorry I cant really estimate how long it will be, some very unexpectied issues have cause most of the delays so far.

How about putting up a modeling/coding/texturing/animating/mapping agenda? In the "Contributions" forum, so we can see if anything is needed.

I had a question related to the current models. Someone mentioned wanting to lob a missle into a big squad of Gaunts, and that made me wonder how well do the ragdoll physics work for RS 2 so far?

very well, a while back a test was done involving grenades, the gravity gun and a bunch of guant ragdolls.

the resultant video was lost to history but they fly arround well and flop about the place. Only downside is sometimes thanks to the way HL2 is made the ragdoll will remain stationary and basically become a prop.

*Bump*

An agenda list would be fun to see. So people know what to contribute.

the team is slightly reluctant to post an agenda of what is needed, mainly as its animations and were not inclined to hand out our completed models to just anyone for various IP reasons and to stop our models being leached.

Also due to the stringent quality control that is kept over all EX work we typically like to see previous work and be in constant contact with people working on EX related material. Specifically the main parts of the mod such as maps and models.

If anyone really wants to do something for the mod then contacting either by Pm or E-mail, but preferably by entering our IRC channel to talk directly with us, one of the Dev team, preferably chromeangel would be the way to go.

Just a quick update, there was an alpha test last night by the dev team, hunting for bugs in the code, i think about 8 were found.

although i was not involved the other team members may have news on it.
