Hello guys,

I have some trouble to get the mapname_language.txt to work. I created a .txt file like it reads in the entity manual and copyed the text from the manual into my .txt file. All the lines like "neutral_tyranid", which will be the tokens I think, are replaced of my text.
Now in the properties of ex_mission I wrote into The human mision text from mapname_language.txt: start_mission.
In my mapname_language.txt it is written "start_mission" "Defend the door control system"
The same with the ex_timer. Under the propertie  The token to display next to the timer: countdown
In the mapname_language.txt: "countdown" "Until artillery support"
My .txt file is in the ex map folder thogether with the bsp.
But it doesent work. Do I forgot to tell hammer where he can find the .txt file or can he find it automatically?

Thx for help.

Welcome back Dark Marine  Cheesy

This article in the help section Should help you.

If your map is named ex_city_conflict EX will try and load translations from SourceMods/ex/maps/ex_city_conflict_english.txt when your map is loaded.  If you have a different language selected in steam, say German for example it should try and load ex_city_conflict_german.txt ( I haven't personally tested this, most people seem to be happy with  english ).   If like me, you version number your maps (eg ex_city_conflict_3) and you don't want to keep renaming or copying your translation file you can specify a separate name using the ex_gameplay entity (eg ex_city_conflict , this way all versions of the map will load ex_city_conflict_english.txt irrespective of the bsp name).

To be on the safe side check that your map name and translation file name are spelled exactly the same and in the exact same case.

If does sound like your are doing it right though.  Does anything get displayed when you activate your mission?

Hello Chrome Angel,

atm the map name is testmap and the mapname_language.txt is testmap_english.
Maybe you are right and I have to call it testmap_german.txt. I will try this soon.

I got displayed the text, which I wrote into the ex_mission properties "The human mision text from mapname_language.txt".

Yes I saw only the text of the token "start_mission" but not the actual text I want from the testmap_englisch.txt.

But that doesnt matter. I got the problem fixed. It wasnt the problem of the language which steam is running or that I called it testmap_english.txt instead of testmap_german.txt. The problem was that I create my own txt file. I took one of the other mapname_language files and copied my text in it.
I dont know what was the different but now it works fine. Cheesy
