In Black Mesa if you kill an enemy up close or get spewed on by a Bullsquid you get crude on your gun. Would that be possible in Exterminatus or is that something which is a single player only effect? This could only happen to Space Marine weapons as blood somehow won't get outside of his armor unless he's already lost a limb to a Xeno weapon.

In before somebody says something about Tyranids having the Acid Blood biomorph.

that would be neat, but i guess it would require some weird coding based on weapon type. i think chrome wouldnt rejoice at the aspect of more work lol.

as for the acid blood, weve got something planned for that eventually.

This should be possible in multi-player.  I can think of a couple of ways they might have achieved this effect in BM:
  • Somehow firing decals at the player's view model.
  • Switching to an alternate "bloody" version of the weapon skin.

I think the 1st is more likely as I seem to recall the splatter pattern looked the same for all weapons and that it faded out over time.

If I were to do something like this, I would be more inclined to make it part of the HUD, like CODs "jam in the eyes" effect.

I'm not actually planning on doing either of these, but I have given some thought as to how it could be done.
