Alpha 8.25 features updates to ex_valley and ex_lycantium, improvements to the class and wargear menus and updated dreadnaught textures.


The FTP is on the blink again, so i'm relying on ModDB to authorise and distribute this version.

Install the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer
  • Navigate to the "Tools" section on your Steam games "Library"
  • Install the "Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer"
  • Run the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer at least once.
  • You can exit once the menu has finished loading.

Install the latest Exterminatus Alpha
  • If you already have a copy of the EX alpha, delete it.
  • Run the alpha installer and follow it's instructions.
  • Restart Steam.  You should now see both the Exterminatus Beta 8.21 and Exterminatus Alpha listed in your library.

Tweaks
  • Improved the textures on the dreadnaught and it's weapons.  Thanks to DontAsk for his contributions.
  • All the "Letterbox" style menus have been slimmed down, to allow more icons across the screen.
  • Class and wargear menus show your points in the top right (for comparison to costs), this should help you gauge if you can afford that venomfex before you choose it.
  • Class menu details now includes the number of players using the highlighted class (so you don't end up with 5 medics).
  • Class and Wargear is purchased at spawn time, so you can go back through the menus.
  • Lycantium has been updated adding a new route between the Monument and Courtyard objectives.
  • Tweaked the origin of the 3rd person dreadnaught flamer effect.

DontAsk4470 is working on a sweet new cinematic in SFM to give the Dreadnaught a suitably epic introduction.

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed glitches releated to Biovore ammo consumption.  Mines now use as much ammo as shots that explode on impact.  The biovore will no longer go into negative ammo(with associated integer overflow).
  • Opened up the catacomb entrances in ex_vally to allow Dreadnaughts to exit.

Balance
  • Buffed Meltagun wargear from 15 to 25 points.

The Betrayer has been working on a plan to revise the EX menu system, please read his proposal and give us your feedback.  The Betrayer is still looking at improving the Dreadnaugths 3rd person animations.

I am looking for contributions to pad out the Tyranids armoury for Beta 4.0.  Currently Wikkyd is working on adapting existing wargear to work with more classes, but we can always use more.

I am still looking for a voice actor to record some custom battle cries for the dreadnaught.  Please send me your WAVs!

Known Bugs
  • Placeholder particle systems for the Dreadnaught and it's weapons.
