Every 10 or so Alpha versions I like to roll out a Beta to a wider audience.  I try and ensure we get the best possible Beta experience by putting out a Release Candidate (RC) build to Alpha testers before the Beta itself.  This Christmas weekend i'm releasing the first candidate for Beta 8.60.     This release polishes up the current EX features in preparation for a very important Beta.

As per the plan I will be asking Games Workshop (GW), very nicely, if I can put Exterminatus on Greenlight to get the mod on the Steam Store.  Beta 8.60 will be the version they see and the presentation that will inform their decision.

To ensure all players are using the exact same version there is no patch of 8.60 RC2 only a full installer and large 7zip archive (it's too big to use regular zip).

Oops!  I accidentally released 2 different versions of RC 1 on xmas eve.  To resolve the differences and clear any confusion i've repackaged the best version as RC 2, please re-download.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

The ModDB mirrors unlock at 16:00 GMT, if it's busy or not working the installer can be downloaded from 40ksource.com.  Please try the ModDB first.

Install the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer
  • Navigate to the "Tools" section on your Steam games "Library"
  • Install the "Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer"
  • Run the Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer at least once.
  • You can exit once the menu has finished loading.

Install the latest Exterminatus Release Candidate
  • If you already have a copy of the EX beta, delete it.
  • Run the release candidate installer and follow it's instructions.
  • Restart Steam.  You should now see Exterminatus Beta 8.60 listed in your library.

Tweaks
  • Removed duplicate and redundant files from package.
  • Improved lighting and added details to ex_lycantium.
  • Added more details to ex_forge and restored the missing entities from previous build.
  • Added more details and tweaked some particle systems on ex_ichar_iv.
  • Added more details to ex_valley and updated some surfaces to use newer textures.
  • Added the option to change teams to the Tutorial
  • Added more details and improved the look of the Tutorial

I'll be playing and recording some games this week to prepare some fresh presentation materials in readiness for a full Beta release in the new year.
