I stared on, wating for that first glimpse. It would come soon, i was sure of it... Suddenly the first movements on the horizon could be seen, but in the distance, it was unable to make out really their number, but we knew it would be in its millions. It was a sea of deadly blue creatures with red bone like armor.

As they drew ever closer, i heard the barrels of the assualt cannons warm up, ready for the onslaught. Then i heard what i did not expect, the giant slams it made on the ground allmost shook the very foundations of the fortress. At first, the idea sprang to me that the most giant tyranids were joining the battle from the start, a bad omen indeed, but i was wrong, it was to our benefet this new force. The Titans of the Legio Praetor arrived, in full glory as numerous Titans weilding numerous enourmous weapons set in place ready to stand along side us.

The xeno scum reached roguhly 500 metres away. Then, the powerful weapons of the titans opened up, thousands of rockets flew over head, swooping past the base blowing craters into the ground and slaughtering the first wave. This was followed by there enourmous multi-laser's blasting through rows of gaunts. The slaughter was a magnificent start to our fight. Within minutes thousands of Gaunts lay dead.

But with every dead gaunt, a few more would reach the horizon.

As the titans continued their barrage of the field, i watched in awe at their power, but something caught my eye, not but a 100 metres from the walls of the fortress. The ground itself seemed to get swallowed... Until a massive Trygon burst through the ground, and with it, another uncountable swarm of Tyranid organisms.

"FIRE!" Yelled Captain Invictus, an with this the company opened up the approaching horde, first bringing down the Trygon before it did more damage. It fell in a disgusting arch crushing many a gaunt.

My aim was true, but my enemy was false. It never gave up. But the creatures seemed to forget who we were. Our Faith kept us stronger then any Carnifex.

The roar of my Battle Brothers blasting the horde to pieces was only seconded by the yell of our storm bolters, whose barrels were by now cherry red and soon to over-heat, but we shot-on, i knew there would be no time to rest our judgement bringers.

The Tyranids got closer... and closer, soon the bigger creatures began to arrive, in the corner of my eye, i saw a Titan collapse under sheer number of the enemy. Then, the unthinkable happened. Breach. The gaunts climbed over our fortifacations, screaching and clicking at us.
I rose my gun, and placed two shots through a Termagaunts neck, i grabbed another by the skull with my powerfist and crushed it where it stood. All around my brothers were tearing the various Tyranids apart. But also, my brothers fell. I watched as Brother Sacarius, was pierced through the head by a Talon of a warrior, that was until a brutal burst of an Assault cannon tore it in two vertically.

"Retreat to the Prayer hall Brothers, there we can hold of these menaces in better proximity!" Announced a un-scathed Captain Invicuts as he simultaneously punched his Power fist through the gut of a Ravener, then leaving it to shrivel and die.

As each man falled back through the designated entry points, the swarm of gaunts overran us, they lept from floor to wall, dodging my shots, as it pounced Sergeant Tygerion be-headed it with 1 swipe of his power sword.
"Retreat Brother!, only together in the hall of prayer, will the Emperors might be able to shield us from this foe."

The last man to get through was Captain Invictus, as he entered he slammed the control pannel which securely fascened the door shut.

Then my comm link opened up.
"Space Marines of the Ultramarine 1st Company, i am Commander Rygo of the Titan Legio Praetor, it has bin an honour to serve along side such a force, we are glad to have died fighting with you. But im afraid, this is where our battle ends, we are going to Self-Destruct, hopefully wiping out alot of the Tyranids, this is our gift to you, we hope you serve the Emperor and get the job done."
The comm link stayed open as the Commaner gave a farewell to his men, and said it was a pleasure to serve with them. As the men cheered for the commander, the comm link shut. The ground shook as the explosion climaxed.
Captain Invictus bowed his hair and said a word of prayer.

Verrry nice.....
But constuctive critiscism is what makes the world go round Smiley Like you said to me, seems to be going a bit fast, and i would of though the ultramarines would hold the line for a bit longer than that. But i've always like you "yes we are fighting and yes we are dying but we are space marines" etc style. And your last stands Cheesy

This is really good stuff. You've captured really well the epic atomosphere.

As for criticism, listen to Rebellion. There could be indeed a little more detailed battle scenes but if you're working on that anyway...

Once again, I'm waitingt for the next part
