Hey Guys - as promised, I've posted an early idea for the Zoanthropes Psychic Powers.

I kinda wanted a spound that felt like it was getting inside your brain and killing your braincells, so tell me what you think!

Please be critical in your judgements - a "that sucks" isn't really all that helpful Tongue. But feel free to tell me what you think of it... I'm not 100% sure about it - like I said, it was just a quick one that I knocked up this week inbetween 3 major assignments that I'm working on for next week.

The link to the file is:
http://rapidshare.com/files/24722355/Final_Zoa_1.wav

So have a listen and tell me what you think is good, what's OK and what could be improved! I value your opinion! Smiley

(Gah! Listening back to it now with fresh ears I'm not very hopeful of it's reception Tongue Oh well... lol)

Sounds high pitched and poppy, not at all scary or dangerous like I had in mind.  Sorry to say we're probably better off starting from scratch rather than trying to salvage this attempt.

It sounds almost like some kind of rainforest ambience, perhaps you can use it for something later.

Yeah that's cool. I realise it wasn't heaps like what you originally described. I was listening to the Old Skool Movie "Independence Day", and I realised that I'd made it sound a lot like them.

Wanna kinda elaborate on the "scary and dangerous"? Theremin doesn't really seem all that "scary and dangerous" to me... :S Is this sound supposed to represent the Zoanthrope's sound you hear with your ears as it kills someone or create the feeling that your mind is being microwaved? I just don't think i have a real clear picture... Any clarification would be great. I'd love to have another go.

Thanks.

The Theramin is used a lot in film to give an eerie supernatural atmosphere, which is kind of what i'm after in this instance.

This sound is what players around the target experience as the mass mind of the Tyranid hive fleet explosively punches through from the ethereal plane (AKA the warp) and tries to consume the very living soul of the targeted player(s).  Now, what  the hell does that sound like?  I have no idea

I imagine a high eerie sound building up, as the Zoan charge its power (½-1½ sec), sounding like a thousand voices. Think banshee howl, but more animal/monster-like, probably with some flie-buzz in there as well.
Once the voice has reached its maximum, the psy-charge is unleashed, with a buzz or zap sound, thinking something like RS lascannon or UT lightening gun here.

Or if the Zoan weapon is not a charged weapon, I could imagine a boom-sound from the psy-discharge, then the bestial sounds of the Swarm tearing at the target mind, with a cracking sound as the fabric of reality is damaged.

Hope this can inspire you...

Perhaps you could have the psychic powers do more disrupting to the player then actual damage, For example maybe it shakes his screen turns it black red and all those pretty little colors, he hears random noises that are occuring on other side of battleifeld, something like that to show his mind is in tatters.
