Now I'm not sure if this is the right place for such an article but I thought I'd compile all my thoughts and such on this beta in one thing. So right off the bat I really like this mod. It's a good idea and the gameplay so far has balanced out , however I feel that both sides are lacking a few things. So I'll break this down to each element and each map. I do a bit of dev work myself so I can help out a bit.

Space marines
-Lacking Speed and close combat
-No fast classes; However playing heavy and having to capture points on digsite makes even the Fex seem fast.
-The Marines lack a fast unit ,after talking with a few people a Scout Marine class
Scout could be a kin to  the TF2's Scout class, Recon,Capture, etc. Armed with a shotgun he could provide the marines with a way to deal with the nids once they get up close, since due to their lack of speed /Knife not doing much hurt, they get close game over man.I know that's part of the working on the tyranids but the SMs are more versatile then that.
-As someone who's really into the fluff of 40k I'm kinda at odds as to why you guys picked the smurfs ( http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Ultramarines ) now To me it seems like the schemes are based on the old starer set from the miniatures but eh.
-Meltagun This one is personal I don't like it, I'd rather have a flamer or something. Flamers would help with Lictors.

-Tyranids
-Deathspitter.For me who uses no binded commands and default mouse/keyboard settings that the death spitter being mouse one and the talons being mouse two I've seen throw off players who have'nt heard of the nids or something.
-The Carnifex ;His set backs seem to be map related for my use of him, but  I think the Thorpe should be nerfed and fex be made the higher teir. but that's just me.
-Zoanthorpe, Confusing to use for me but eh, It's the only ranged support nids have so I like it. The Blast hurts freindlys which I don't really get, since it seems like it's a toxin whic you'd think they'get some kind of immunity too and like I've seen places if it falls it should'nt get hurt. it's FLOATING.

-Maps
-Lycanticam or w/e I DO NOT LIKE. This map is far too big , far too confusing.
-Space Hulk Why can't we have that be Termis and Genestealers only ? atleast skin wise. D: Hgnngh nostaliga.
-Digsite This map Is fun. I personally like it but it's got a few very large exploits that once marines find it it's game over for nids on a small scale.I was going to detail them here but I think I'll note someone with them if asked, I really really really hate having to deal with them >_>;
-Hive Love it,No complaints really horrible map for fexes since they tend to get stuck butt make more like it.
-Thunderhawk see hive. If you could edit it I'd space out the dragon's teeth a bit more in the tunnel easy for nids to get stuck.

-General
-ASSIST KILLS. This is a big thing that if you can add it'd be HUGE. It's irksome when you're in a shoot out with a Fex or something and then someone walks up taps it and gets the credit for the kill when it should be split or something.
-One thing I Don't want to see change is the class achviement system if you did'nt have to work for it people would just be heavy/fex the whole time and it'd ruin the fun imo.
-New races I'd love to see Eldar and Tau. Or Orkz. It'd help to balance it out a bit.
- Don't give up on this mod it's great =D the models are great the animations are a tad stiff and it'd be cool to have the marines to have a bit of voice.
-I'd also like to help in anyway I could.

Anywho I thought I'd just jot down my thoughts and views . -Leni

Thanks for taking the time to write up such a detailed review.  We never really got a chance to test EX on such a large scale before the open beta, so it's helpful to have this kind of feedback.

The debate over which chapter to use dragged on a long time (to the detriment of more important decisions), the smurfs were settled on arbitrarily because of their reputation as being a very codex standard chapter.  I have released the source for the marine skins, so anyone who wants to can re-skin them to any chapter they want.

I don't get what's confusing about the warriors Deathspitter & talons combo.  Can you explain a bit better?

You'll be pleased to hear Zoanthropes wont take falling damage in the next patch (5.02).

Lycantium and Hive have the same layout (6 "rooms" in a 3 x 2
grid with a "S" shaped main route), so I find it odd that you like one but not the other.

Suggestions and requests really should go in the Suggestions and Requests thread (one post per suggestion) or they are likely to get missed next time i'm looking for something to do.

1d4chan link removed and replaced with something a bit more friendly for younger viewers.

Sorry, but thats the way it has to be.

Co-incidently given the Ultramarines  previous connections with the Tyranids (battle of ultramar & Tyranic war vets in there squads) they also seamed a good fit.

Oh Not a problem ( The link ) I just put that in there as the source of my use of the term smurfs ,And I just don't care of Ultra marines for their look my putting in the complaint about them was purely personal as someone who fields Space Wolves and Grey Knights I'm biased C:

My comments about the  skin is purely personal xD I think using the Ultramarines gives it the official look and feel to mod.

As for Lycantium and Hive I think it's that Lycantium is so open and the sound effects in the background throw me off thinking I'm being shot at when there's nobody there. I do love the little detail of adding it in it adds to the whole battlezone theme.

And ; For me The Warrior's attack controls are Mouse Button 1 Death spitter , Mouse 2 Talons , and To me, and people who've cursed at me made a comment about how the marines are OP'd then  disconnected  It seems to give the impression that the deathspitter is the main weapon for the class.

Anyways great work so far I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out next  -Leni.
